How to get there.
Two international airports in Damascus and Aleppo provide flight services to Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Also you can visit Lebanon: catch a bus from Damascus to Beirut (4 1/2 hours) or travel there via Tripoli from Homs or Lattakia by bus or taxi or go to Baalbek by taxi.
You can reach Turkey by train to Istanbul from Damascus (42 hours, once weekly) or go to Antakya in Turkey on the border with Syria from Aleppo.
It is also easy to visit Jordan: cross the border in Der’a and arrive in Ramtha in Jordan by using bus or taxi service or by train or bus from Damascus.
How to get around.
Syria’s airline proposed domestic flights from Damascus to Aleppo (one hour), Deir ez-Zur (one hour), Lattakia (45 minutes) and Qamishle (80 minutes).
Also using buses you can get to Deir ez-Zur (six hours), Aleppo (5 hours), Hama(2 1/2 hours), Homs (two hours), Lattakia (4 1/2 hours), Palmyra (four hours) and Tartus (3 1/2 hours).
Use microbuses and minibuses to travel around Syria from Hama to Homs, from Homs to Lattakia, or from Damascus to Der’a.
If you enjoy travel by train you can use service to Aleppo (six hours) travellling via Homs and Hama, Lattakia (six hours) travelling via Tartus, Deir ez-Zur, Hassake and Qamishle from Damascus.
Popular Syria’s destination.
Bosra.
The town of Bosra is located 40km east of Der’a. A trip from Damascus to Bosra via Der’a will take two hours.
Palmyra.
Use bus or taxi services from Damascus to Palmyra (three or four hours). Also you can reach Palmyra from Deir ez-Zur by taxi (three hours).
Crac des Chevalier.
Travel to Cras des Chevaliers? Hire a car and use the Homs-Tartus highway. The castle is only 10km north from the highway. Use microbuses service to get to the village of Hosn from the town of Homs where you can get by train from Aleppo or by bus from Damascus.
Aleppo.
The second international airport, which is located in Aleppo, provides connections to Europe, Middle East and Asia. There is a daily service from Damascus (one hour).
There are daily train services from Damascus, Lattakia, Deir ez-Zur and Qamishle to Aleppo. Also many different bus companies run services to Damascus (five hours), Deir ez-Zur (five hours), Hama (21/1 hours), Homs (31/2 hours) and to Beirut (six hours).
